Anyone is welcome to join us on Monday from 2:00-3:00 for the class Halloween party. Reminder kids may come to school dressed in their costumes. Anything that interferes with learning or is a distraction should be kept in backpacks until the party and parade. This would include masks, gloves, or blow-up costumes. The school-wide parade on the playground will start at 3:15, weather permitting. Thanks to all who helped!!

Students finished the math test for unit 2 last week on comparing & ordering fractions. They will be working during our Bear time to make corrections/improvements to their overall scores. The test will be sent home at the end of the week. This will be the only grade for math on report cards at this time. Extra practice in IXL 4th grade math in the O column will be helpful! We started with O.6. Keep in mind that if your child receives below a 3 on this math standard, there will be opportunities for mastery at Bear time. For some students, extra practice at home may be necessary.

Due to the fact that Chromebooks aren't going home this year, we have created a form for you to fill out if your child needs the device at home for Lexia or IXL use. Please complete this form if you would like your child to bring home his/her device for school use.

Thank you and have a great week!

Reading:   Our reading strategy focus will be looking for the main idea using the thoughts and actions of the characters. Using the data from the Fountas & Pinnell reading assessments, NWEA, and conferring conferences, I am working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". These mini-lessons are used as a  focus for many reading strategies. It's possible to use more than one reading strategy at a time. These strategies cover comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary. Students presented their reading goals at their student-led conferences.

Writing:  Lessons will focus on how to write personal narratives over the next few weeks.

Math: Unit 3: 20 lessons. Students learn that a fraction a/b is a product of a whole number 'a' and a unit fraction 1/b, or a/b = a × 1/b, and that n × a/b = (n × a)/b. Students learn to add and subtract fractions with like denominators, and to add and subtract tenths and hundredths.

Snacks in the Classroom

Please make sure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for everyday snacks. This avoids spilling on our school devices, furniture, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate their birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!
