Hello Lincoln Families!
This last week was about celebrating the success of each student’s individual learning goals, especially in the areas of math, reading, and writing! Our class began their 4th-grade journey by setting their individual learning goals and communicating them at their student-led conferences. Since then, they all have been working by practicing at school, and at home. It seemed only fitting that we celebrate with the movie, Because of Winn Dixie and a Read-In! It was a fabulous way to recognize the hard work of all of our students. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the party to help make our class celebrations a success!
Chrome book reminder: This is a friendly reminder that if your child is taking home a CB then it needs to be charged and brought back to school the next day. We are starting to have some issues with CB not coming back to school and not being charged while at home for school. We use the CB right away every day. There are no extra chargers and it's challenging to get a CB from the media center. Thank you for your help.

Reading: Our reading strategy focus will be looking for the main idea using the thoughts and actions of the characters. Using the data from the Fountas & Pinnell reading assessments, NWEA, and conferring conferences, I am working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". These mini-lessons are used as a focus for many reading strategies. It's possible to use more than one reading strategy at a time. These strategies cover comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary. Students presented their reading goals at their student-led conferences.
Writing: We will continue writing personal narratives over the next few weeks.
Math: Unit 3: 20 lessons. Students learn that a fraction a/b is a product of a whole number 'a' and a unit fraction 1/b, or a/b = a × 1/b, and that n × a/b = (n × a)/b. Students learn to add and subtract fractions with like denominators, and to add and subtract tenths and hundredths.
