Hello Lincoln Families,
We had a fantastic time ice skating on Friday! Thank you to all the parents who were able to come to the rink and help with tying skates and passing out hot chocolate. This Thursday we will go to the high school in the morning for the holiday concert. The winter party committee will be sending food items that we will have when we get back from the concert. Mrs. Kovnat is also coming in to share with our classroom some Jewish traditional food and games. We will watch an all school movie in the afternoon. I hope everyone has a nice break!

Reading: Our reading strategy focus will be looking for the main idea of non-fiction passages including "text features" . Using the data from the Fountas & Pinnell reading assessments, NWEA, and conferring conferences, we are working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". These mini-lessons are used as a focus for many reading strategies. It's possible to use more than one reading strategy at a time. These strategies cover comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary.
Writing: We will begin lessons on persuasive writing.
Math: Unit 4: 23 lessons. Students read, write, and compare numbers in decimal notation. They also extend place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers and add and subtract within 1,000,000.
