Hello Lincoln Families,

Report cards went home this week! This is an opportunity to continue the discussion with your child from the student-led conference. Make sure your child returns the signed envelope to earn "yards" toward a touchdown! 

The annual Planetarium visit will be tomorrow instead of Tuesday. We will leave right after our morning special. This change shouldn't impact anything but wanted you to know. Thanks!

Academic Agenda

Reading:  The new learning focus will be on text structures, including time order, compare and contrast, & cause and effect in a text.  Using the data from the Fountas & Pinnell reading assessments, NWEA, and conferring conferences, we are working on what reading strategies and goals each student needs. These strategies are intended to be added to their "reading tool kit". These mini-lessons are used as a  focus for many reading strategies. It's possible to use more than one reading strategy at a time. These strategies cover comprehension, accuracy, fluency, and expanding vocabulary.

Writing: Students are practicing revising strategies including using "million dollar" words, & "FANBOYS"  in their creative writing. Also,  we have begun research on a historical event that reflects our Social Studies and writing curriculum. The events include Underground Railroad, The Great Migration, Ellis Island (Immigration) Dust Bowl, and the Orphan Train. Ask your child what event they picked! After students collect the research they will write an informational essay.

Science:  We concluded the Sound Unit and students took the final assessment on Friday. Science will be on pause so we can begin the research for the historic event. We have one more unit in Science called, Energizing Everything.

Snacks in the Classroom

Please ensure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for daily snacks. This avoids spilling on our school devices, furniture, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding. 

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate their birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items for example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!

Late start days are just one hour later for all morning procedures.

Half-day dismissal is at 12:09 p.m.


Shuttle riders should head outside at 3:30 on full days and 11:55 on half days.

  Hello Lincoln Families! This last week was about celebrating the success of each student’s individual learning goals, especially in the areas of math, reading, and writing! Our class began their 4th-grade journey by setting their individual learning goals and communicating them at their student-led conferences.   Hello Lincoln Families,      Our class has finished the story, Because of Winn Dixie. Our class clips have also touched the floor!  We would like to celebrate with a movie and a party to honor the beautiful story told by Kate DiCamillo, next Thursday, November 10th. But we need your help! In the story, Opal organizes a party for her closest friends that includes some unique items. If you are able to help here is the sign-up sheet (click here) . If possible, please send in item(s) by Thursday morning. In addition, on Friday we will have a Read-In! Students will be able to bring their favorite books, a stuffed animal, a snack, and a clear drink.   Just a reminder Math NWEA testing begins this Tuesday morning. If you can make appointments around the morning for this week, it would be appreciated. In addition, since we are ending this trimester and school year I have a lot of assessing for the report cards. It's difficult to make up the work and test-taking in 4th grade. It can't be sent home as homework. The only time for me to work with students who miss school is at recess when I don't have recess duty.
