Free September Clip Art Pictures - Clipartix

Hello Lincoln Families!

We had an exciting and successful first week of school! It's been wonderful getting to know each student and learning classroom procedures to help build a stronger classroom community! Make sure you ask your child about what he/she is reading. Each student should have a "good fit" book in their backpack. 4th graders are encouraged to read each day/night for 20 minutes or more at home. Once the reading is finished, students need to record the minutes and pages read. Please sign your initials to the bookmarker. This is one example of how students can earn "yards" and eventually score a touchdown! In addition, all students have a daily planner. Please ask to see it each day. This is a wonderful way to continue the conversation with your child about what is needed for school.

Thank you for all the donations to the classroom for school supplies. We have a long year, and many materials are needed and used daily. Thank you for sending a daily snack and water bottle each day. Our mornings begin at 8:30, and lunch isn't until 1:00.  Our classroom is warm, especially upstairs after recess. Having water bottles is the best way to have students get better hydrated.

Testing for the NWEA will begin on Tuesday, September 13th.  Students will take the NWEA in math and reading. We will begin testing each day at 10:00. We hope all testing is completed by the end of the week. Please consider not scheduling appointments if possible. Students can bring in gum or mints to have during the test. The results from the testing are beneficial for our teacher team to use to get to know your child as a learner and begin to set learning goals.

This week I gave a presentation about the Safety Patrol Program for 4th graders. Below is the parent permission Google form if your child wants to participate in the program this form has to be completed. I will explain the program at BTSN. However, if you click on the link for the BTSN link below, the information is on slides 11 and 12.

Below are links to Google forms and presentations for  4th grade. Please make sure you scroll down the page. I will go over all of the information at BTSN, but if you are like me, you might want to get a head start! Have a fantastic Week!

Snacks in the Classroom

Please make sure that everyday snacks are quick and easy for your child to handle. For example please no yogurt, pudding, uncut fruit, or messy items for everyday snacks. This avoids spilling on our school devices, furniture, etc. These snacks work better in the lunchroom. Thank you for your understanding.

Birthdays

We love to celebrate birthdays! For students who would like to celebrate their birthdays in our class please bring in non-food items. For example instead of cupcakes maybe pencils. Sometimes parents put together little gift bags. These are just ideas. There is no obligation to send anything!
